# App Launcher

> Monarch opens in App Launcher mode by default and gives you a lightning fast, minimalist UI to search for apps and prominent folders faster than ever before.

The App Launcher is the base Mode of Monarch and can be used as a complete replacement for Spotlight Search. Results in Monarch are surfaced up to 150x times faster than in the default Spotlight!

The App Launcher also features much more functionality and flexibility than Spotlight Search and will give you a new level of control over your Mac. Here are things you can do with Monarch:
